Start with a flavour you enjoy. LÁN is described as creamy, nutty and roasted, with a particular recommendation for lattes. NAGI has floral notes and gentle umami and is also described as suitable for lattes. Milk or a plant-based drink is your flavour choice; there is no universally best combination for everyone.
With a whisk: prepare a matcha concentrate first
Both varieties' supplied instructions start with 3 g of powder and 60 ml of water. Use a chasen with a brisk M-shaped motion. The instructions describe about 30 seconds of quick whisking, followed by slower refinement of the foam. Adjust strength to taste, but use the same quantities initially when comparing two varieties.
An iced latte
The product instructions call for 120 ml of cold milk and ice in a glass, followed by the whisked matcha concentrate. If you prefer a plant-based drink, start with the same liquid quantity and adjust afterwards. Changing one variable at a time helps you judge the effect rather than changing the powder amount, liquid and variety simultaneously.
A warm latte
The warm version uses 150 ml of warmed milk with the matcha concentrate added. The supplied product instructions do not verify a water temperature, so this guide does not invent a product-specific temperature. Handle hot liquids carefully.
Without a whisk: the cold Express method
The Express Set lists a measuring spoon and a 100 ml shaker. Two level spoons amount to approximately 3 g according to its instructions. Add cold water up to two-thirds of the shaker, shake for 20–30 seconds and pour into 150 ml of milk or water. Do not confuse this cold method with shaking hot liquid in a closed container.
What should you order?
Choose LÁN for a nutty, roasted latte profile or NAGI for floral notes. Whether you also buy a whisk or the Express Set depends on your existing equipment. Read our variety comparison and browse the matcha collection for current pack options and prices.
