You do not need to buy every accessory to find your matcha routine. First decide how you want to prepare it: traditionally with a Chasen and bowl, or simply with a shaker and cold water.
In our accessories collection you will find tools for both methods. Not every utensil is necessary; what matters is what fits your daily life.
Chasen: for whisking in a bowl
A Chasen is a traditional bamboo whisk used to whisk matcha in a bowl. With quick movements is the powder evenly distributed, so that a fine layer of foam form can.
The 100-prong purple bamboo Chasen is specified as approximately 18 g in weight, with dimensions of 11 × 5.8 cm. When choosing a Chasen, check the specifications of the particular version carefully.
How to care for your Chasen: Soak the whisk in warm water before first use. After use, swirl it in clean water to remove matcha residue and gently shake off excess water. Let it then in a well ventilated place in the air dry. A suitable Chasen holder can help retain the shape of the fine bamboo prongs as they dry. It is sold separately unless stated otherwise on the product page.
Matcha bowl: enough space for whisking
A bowl that gives the whisk room to move is useful for preparing matcha with a Chasen. Choose sufficient size, a stable shape and a suitable base. A rounded base supports the whisk's movement and allows smooth whisking without putting unnecessary strain on the fine bamboo prongs.
Our tea bowl collection offers different shapes for your matcha routine. If you are looking for something special, our handmade matcha bowls offer an attractive alternative. They are designed for matcha preparation and have an integrated pouring spout to help you pour the prepared matcha precisely into a cup.
Choose according to your needs and check each bowl's size, material and care instructions.
You do not necessarily need a dedicated matcha bowl. If you already have a sufficiently wide, stable bowl at home, you can start with that.
Matcha scoop: easier portioning
A matcha scoop makes portioning the powder easier. The Express Set specifies approximately 1.5 g for a level measuring scoop. This does not automatically apply to other scoops.
When comparing two varieties, using the same powder weight in grams helps you compare them fairly.
Mini Shaker: the easy alternative
Want to prepare matcha quickly? A shaker can be a practical alternative to a Chasen.
The 100 ml Mini Shaker and the Express Set offer a compact way to prepare matcha with cold water. The shaker replaces the whisk and bowl.
Always follow the instructions for the particular product. The Express method uses cold water; this does not mean the shaker is suitable for hot liquids.
